The best time for Sar Pass trek is from May to June and September to October. May-June offers snow at higher altitudes, while September-October provides clear views and pleasant weather. Monsoon (July-August) is not recommended due to slippery trails and leeches.
Sar Pass is a moderate difficulty trek suitable for beginners with good fitness. The trail involves 5-7 hours of trekking daily with some steep sections. The highest point is 13,800 ft, so proper acclimatization is important. Regular walking/running practice before the trek is recommended.
Essentials include: trekking shoes, 3-4 quick dry t-shirts, 2 trek pants, warm layers, waterproof jacket, woolen cap/gloves, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle, headlamp, personal medications, toiletries, and a 40-50L backpack. A detailed packing list will be provided after booking.
Mobile network is available only till Grahan village (Day 1). Beyond this point, there's no network coverage. BSNL and Airtel work best in Kasol area. It's recommended to inform your family about the network unavailability during trek days.
Our trek leaders are certified in first aid and mountain safety. We carry comprehensive first aid kits, oxygen cylinders, and oximeters. For serious cases, evacuation plans are in place. Participants should disclose any medical conditions beforehand.
